Technology has transformed Lisa Kappeler’s ministry over her 11 years as a Bible translator among the Uriay people of Papua New Guinea and as a Bible translation consultant.

But it takes IT professionals behind the scenes to allow that “push of a button” to happen.

Assist physician with procedures such as minor surgeries.  Basic wound care/management.  Collect/process lab specimens. Provide patient discharge instructions and education. Complete patient charge forms when needed.     Answer emails and return phone calls- (triage training and materials are available). Clean and stock procedure and exam rooms. Maintain accurate and complete nursing notes in patient medical records. Other duties as assigned.

  • Be on call for medical emergencies.
  • Be responsible for all medical decisions regarding routine and emergency care.
  • In emergencies decide where to obtain the appropriate level of care.  Prepare the patient for transfer when required. This includes writing reports and notifying all appropriate individuals.
  • Maintain regular clinic hours, as possible, with flexibility to allow for on call hours, medical evacuations, etc.
  • Supervise all medical care provided by the medical clinic, including all nursing functions, lab and pharmacy functions.
  •  Meet with NTM-PNG leadership periodically.
