Prayer Team Update — July 14-18

Biem Church is Spreading God’s Word
Monday, July 14
Brandon and Rachel Buser minister among the Biem people of Papua New Guinea. In June, the Biem church had a New Testament dedication. “People from all four Biem-speaking islands were in attendance and heard a blessedly clear presentation of the gospel of grace. God gave great times of teaching and fellowship to us with the Biem believers, and we are encouraged with their growth and desire to carry the gospel to the other Biem-speaking islands.” The Biem church leaders and elders commented, “We need to ask God to open the door for us to bring His message to them. They have the Book, but they need someone to teach it to them. This is the work of the church … to send people to explain the message.” Pray for open doors.

Pray for the Taliabo People, Asia Pacific
Tuesday, July 15
Payton and Grace Downing minister among the Taliabo people of Asia Pacific. Pray for them and their co-workers Greg and Kadie Ried as they work on various projects this year: translating Luke, finishing up chronological Sunday school lessons, starting Sunday school lessons on Acts and writing lessons for personal Bible study material from the book of Philippians. “Pray for endurance, focus and willing people to help.” Pray that believers would study God’s Word personally and grow in their walk with the Lord. Pray for the team and for the Taliabo people as sickness is sweeping through the village.

Pray for Tanguat Outreaches in Papua New Guinea
Wednesday, July 16
Paul and Ellen Swenson minister among the Tanguat people of Papua New Guinea. Paul, his co-worker Derek Chen and Tanguat Bible teachers have started the 73-lesson chronological Bible teaching in Tanguat villages “A” and “M.” The team is encouraged by the fact that attendance has been good and that there have already been some meaningful conversations. Pray for the men as they teach, “for wisdom to show Christ’s love through our words and actions. [Pray] that the people from ‘A’ and ‘M’ villages will choose to leave behind their old beliefs and put their faith and trust in Christ alone.”

Pray for the Bolivian Church
Thursday, July 17
Canadians Phil and Luciane Lattin are support missionaries in Paraguay and Bolivia. They recently spent time in Bolivia encouraging the missionaries and those going through the missionary training institute. They also evaluated the missionaries in the training institute who were in their three-month language learning practice and assessed the needs among Bolivian people groups. Pray for the missionaries and missionaries-in-training in Bolivia and for the Bolivian church. In Bolivia, there have been disturbances and difficulty in travel. “Most food prices have more than doubled in the last year, and fuel is hard to find. This has made life increasingly difficult for everyone. Please pray for the people there and that the Lord would strengthen His Church during this time.”

Pray for Bible Translation among the Elsengg People
Friday, July 18
Carolyn, serving remotely, ministers to the Elsengg people of Asia Pacific. Pray for Carolyn as she translates God’s Word. She has had some challenges recently in finding help with translation. Three women, one after another, were unable to help Carolyn with translation because they left the village for various reasons. Because they left the village, the ladies are missing out on hearing the chronological Bible teaching. “Please pray that they will have burning hearts to hear more of God’s Word and that nothing and no one would stand in the way of their having that opportunity.”
