Jesus came to earth to satisfy those who were hungry to know the truth. He said, “I am the Bread of Life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry” (John 6:35). People flocked to Him because they were searching for eternal life. This is still true today. Many people are looking for true meaning and hope for life after death.
We see the same spiritual hunger in Nunavut. People have expressed a desire to know God. Many follow religious practices but are unable to find clarity about what the Bible is truly saying. It is the enemy’s desire to offer a version of truth where Scripture is twisted or mixed with man-made traditions.
Over Christmas we (Hilary & Carolyn) saw an example of spiritual hunger when we tagged along with our Inuk friend to spend time with a group of ladies. We sang some Christmas carols and our friend shared her testimony in English and Inuktitut. She prayed for them and stayed to chat one-on-one. “Qujannamiik,” they said, “Thank you for coming. Can you come back to pray and talk about the Bible?”
People are open to hearing about God’s Word. We are motivated to learn Inuktitut well so that we can clearly communicate what God says. We want them to understand that Jesus is the Bread of Life. He is the only one who can truly satisfy spiritual hunger.
