Prayer Team Update — December 8-12

Mexico Unrest: Pray for Displaced Missionaries
Monday, December 8
Katie Moore ministers to the Nahuatl people of Las Moras, Mexico. It has been over a year since the team had to leave Las Moras, and many of the Nahuatl people are still displaced because of unrest in the area. The team is “facing the reality that our return will not be soon.” But they are encouraged to remember that “the people have access to key portions of the Word, and the believers are sharing their faith, both in Las Moras and in the new locations where some have fled.” Pray for “peace, maturity for the church and the spread of the gospel.” Pray for Katie and her teammates as they “seek counsel on the best ways to use our gifts to encourage the Nahuatl church and serve the field of Mexico.”

Disciples Making Disciples – Praise God for a Maturing Guanano Church in Brazil
Tuesday, December 9
Barry and Denise Spor serve as church planting consultants in Brazil. For years they ministered among the Guanano people. Pray as the Spors increasingly phase out of ministering among the Guanano church. “The goal isn’t abandonment — it’s giving them space to grow confident, lead the ministry God has given them and take on their own apprentices — discipling new believers the same way they were mentored.” Pray that the Bible translation, teaching, discipleship and outreaches can continue to progress without the Spors resuming a central role in the work. God’s design is for disciples to make disciples; praise Him that we have witnessed this among the Guanano church.*

Urgent Need in Papua New Guinea: Guesthouse Managers Needed Aug 2026–Jul 2027
Wednesday, December 10
Canadians Jacob and Beth Devine serve as managers of the guesthouse at the mission centre in Papua New Guinea (PNG). The guesthouse is an important resource as it gives church planting and support missionaries — including PNG citizens and missionaries from other like-minded organizations — a safe and affordable place to rest, to rejuvenate and to collaborate on projects like Bible translation. The Devines will be leaving PNG for a year while they are on home assignment, and they will need someone to manage the guesthouse while they are away. Pray that God would provide a couple or two singles to fill in as guesthouse managers from August 2026 – July 2027. Pray that God would continue to use this ministry to assist in establishing thriving churches in the highlands of PNG.

“None of Them Have Heard”: Yanomamö Believer Pleads for Eight Unreached Villages
Thursday, December 11
Bobby and Sandy Jank, serving remotely, minister to the Yanomamö people of Latin America. Praise God that despite some big changes throughout the country, the Yanomamö are still able to do Bible studies with Bobby over video call. One participant, Pepi, recently had this to say, “I still don’t know very much. And all the people here around me (he names off eight different villages) none of them — none of them — have heard about God, about salvation, or about Jesus. They don’t know anything at all, but even so, would you pray for all of them? Jesus died for them too, and they are alive because of God. They don’t know this, but God knows everything.” Pray that God would continue to work in Pepi’s heart and that He would make a way for these eight villages to hear and understand His Word.
How will God use you to bring the gospel to the unreached?

After Years of Waiting: Susie Finally Starts Bible Translation in West Africa
Friday, December 12
Susie ministers among the “S” people of West Africa. “I’m thankful that I was able to sit down last week and work on the very first draft of the first two verses of the book of Ruth! … This is called the exegetical draft, and there are a gazillion more steps and thousands of other verses to go, but it’s a start. And I’m grateful, so many years after first setting foot in this country, to be able to have finally crossed this starting line.” Praise God for this encouraging milestone and for knowledgeable and patient national co-workers.
