Prayer Team Update — December 1-5

Equip Your Small Group with Our New Free Great Commission Course

Monday, December 15

We are excited to launch a new resource called the Great Commission Course, created for small groups, large groups or individuals. The course is completely free and open to everyone. The eight sessions, including videos, guided notes and discussion times, are designed to answer questions such as: What is missions? What does God have to say about those who have never heard? How can I be a part of it? How can my church be a part of it? Pray that this course will be a beneficial tool for churches and small groups as they explore the Great Commission. Pray that God will use this to stir people’s hearts towards missions — the harvest is plentiful.

Pray for Missionaries in West Africa

Pray for Adam & Rachel: One Step Closer to Joining a Church Planting Team in West Africa

Tuesday, December 16

Adam and Rachel serve in West Africa. “We were given the opportunity to visit the village of the team we are hoping to join! … It gave us a much better idea of what the needs are and the breadth of the work there among the ‘B’ people.” There are a few believers in this village of 1,200, and the missionary team is working to strengthen these believers in the Word. They would also like to go through the chronological teaching again. Pray as “there has been much opposition to this in the past.” The team meets together this month to determine if Adam and Rachel will be joining the team in this village. Pray that God’s will would be done.

Adam and Rachel completed their missionary training with Ethnos Canada. Visit ethnostraining.ca to learn more.

Pray for Newly Commissioned Pastors & Their Wives in Latin America

Wednesday, December 17

Canadians Tim and Robin Walker minister to the “Pi”* people of Latin America. Years ago, a “Pi” man named Anibal attended the chronological teaching taught by Tim and his teammates, and “he was so impacted by the gospel, he went home … and began sharing his newfound faith,” eventually becoming a pastor and teaching hundreds of people from God’s Word. Anibal recently called Tim “out of the blue” and said he was having a commissioning service for a group of “Pi” pastors. Pray for “each of [the pastors]** and their wives, together with their worship teams and co-workers as they labour in the things of the Lord, teaching and pastoring the people where they live.”

*The “Pi” people were formally referred to as the “P1” people in these communications.

**If you would like to pray for the pastors by name, their names are Cornelio (and his wife Diana), Vicente, Enrique (and his wife Gloria), Jose Perez (and his wife), Jose’s worship team of five men and women, Mota Ramon (and his wife Ana), Dario (and his wife Olivia), Jose, Manuel and Bernabe.

Pivotal Moment in Bolivia – Chimane Discipleship Class Says ‘We Believe!’

Thursday, December 18

Dan and Judy Burke minister among the Chimane people of Bolivia. They were recently encouraged by discipleship Class 6. “The men in this class finished up Dan’s book Faith, which is a relatively quick recap of the chronological Bible lessons that they went through first. This is a pivotal point in our curriculum. At this time, Dan asks each man if he believes because the next set of lessons is on how to grow spiritually and thus only for believers. Every man in the class proclaimed himself a believer in Christ. Hallelujah!” Praise God for the fruit of these chronological Bible lessons. Pray that more fruit would continue as these men grow in their faith.

Pray for new missionaries for existing church planting team in Papua New Guinea

Friday, December 19

We have a long-term commitment to finishing what we’ve started in the existing works we have across Papua New Guinea. There are places where missionaries have been, but some or all of the team members have left, leaving a still young or stagnating church that isn’t able to completely mature and thrive without further input. In places like Kaul and Kuman, there has been a small church established, and the New Testament (NT) translation is complete. However, there is potential for further outreach in new locations, and the church needs further discipleship. In Kol, they’ve completed 45% of the NT translation and could use some help completing the task. Pray for new missionaries to be willing to be a part of completing what we said we would do — to teach these people groups to read and write, to translate God’s Word into their language and to teach them through the Bible.

Next week, we will share about three more works-in-progress in Papua New Guinea.
