Personal Care, The Homes of Ethnos360

Location: Ethnos360 Retirement Homes, Sanford, FL

Purpose: The Homes exists to provide a nurturing and caring environment, attempting to meet both the physical and spiritual needs of its residents, with staff and facility capabilities. The purpose of this position is to provide physical and emotional support and security to ALF residents by supervising or assisting them with their needs. Examples of needs include, but are not limited to, the Activities of Daily Living, the self-administration of medication, observation of well-being and whereabouts, reminders for important tasks and driving to doctor appointments.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide emotional security:  Promote feelings of safety and freedom from danger, fear, and anxiety.  Listen, show understanding, and respond to any concerns expressed by residents.
  • Provide emotional support:  Provide assistance to the resident to cope with personal care problems during periods of stress, which will enhance their ability to accept and adjust to changes in their physical capabilities and personal life.
  • Monitor the general health of ALF residents:  Take note of changes in behavior and physical condition of ALF residents.  This will alert you to changes in a residents' health which may warrant modification of services provided.  Note observations in residents' health charts as appropriate.
  • Communicate:  Pass on information to future shifts and inform the Director of Nursing of any health-related concerns for any ALF resident.  Inform the Director of Nursing or the Administrator of changes requiring contact of the primary healthcare provider, home health agency, another third-party provider or transfer to a facility able to provide the appropriate services. 
  • Assist with Medications:  Assist residents with self-administered medication in accordance with doctor's orders.  Document all medications that have been taken with assistance.  (This responsibility is performed only by staff who have had the associated required training.)
  • Schedule appointments: Assist with scheduling resident medical and dental appointments.  Coordinate these appointments with appointment calendar, vehicle use calendar and driver.  Drive residents to appointments as needed.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

    Required Qualifications (screenings can be accomplished at The Homes): • Current Level 2 background screening (Florida Department of Law Enforcement) • Current screening and doctor's verification of being free of communicable disease (including TB) and agree not to work at the facility while in the transferable stage of any communicable disease that might be contracted in the future. TB screening is renewed annually. • Physically able to assist residents with activities of daily living.

Athletic Trainer

Location: Faith Academy, Manila

Purpose: The purpose of the school is to equip students for life through academic excellence and the development of Christian faith and character; enabling them to live out that truth in every area of their lives. The purpose of Ethnos360 is to assist the local church in planting churches among least reached people groups

Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES OF THE JOB
  • Work with Health Office, Training Coach and Athletic Dept. to perform assessment, treatment (including first aide), reconditioning and prevention of athletic injuries as set forth by the NATA Board of certification
  • Perform taping, strapping, bracing and fitting of athletic equipment
  • Carry out all prescribed treatments and recommendations of local physicians
  • Cover assigned sports games or matches, and related events
  • Act as liaison between athletes, parents, coaches, nurses and Athletic Director
  • Maintain accurate record of injuries, treatments and reconditioning of athletic injuries
  • Develop and maintain a budget for the athletic training program
  • Assist the Athletic Director as requested
  • Work with coaches, Training Coach and Athletic Director to create pre-season conditioning routines for each sport
  • Work hours will start around noon and extend into the evening hours most days of the week and include all day most Saturdays during athletic seasons

    Have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in health related field with a current NATA certification, Remain current in CPR and AED certification, Preferably have one or two years experience in athletic training setting, Be comfortable working with children and young people, Possess history-taking and assessment skills, Be able to work cooperatively with principals, teacher, nurses, training coach and counselors, Be able to communicate with parents and dorm parents concerning their student’s health issues, Have basic computer skills, Be able to assist with or transfer athletes of various weight/heights, Be able to push carts with athletic equipment on them, Be able to stand for long periods of time, have good mobility skills and be able to walk long distances, Demonstrate ability to communicate to give adequate directions and instructions to subordinates, Be able to carry training kit and coolers for long distance

REGISTERED NURSE, THE HOMES OF ETHNOS360

Location: Ethnos360 Retirement Homes, Sanford, FL

Purpose: The Registered Nurse provides services as permitted by law which unlicensed personal care attendants are not permitted to provide. Due to her greater level of training, she provides a higher level of medical expertise and oversight of residents’ general health needs in the ALF than an unlicensed personal care attendant is able to provide.

Responsibilities:

The RN's primary role is that of Personal Care Attendant.  Additional responsibilities that the RN license allows include: 

  • Perform the initial training and updates for ALF staff assisting with medications.  Possibly other initial staff training as well.
  • Instruct personal care staff “in-services” on topics such as personal hygiene, infection control, geriatric care, medication assistance, etc.
  • Oversee the Annual TB screening at NTM Homes to include training nurses, obtaining the script from the doctor and record keeping.
  • Administer medications in accordance with a health care provider's order or prescription label and document all occurrences of medication administration.
  • Communicate with health care professional staff by phone and/or fax regarding new or revised medication orders.  Follow up on medication orders and changes.
  • Manage pill organizers to be used only by residents who self-administer medications.  Instruct the resident in the proper use of the pill organizer.
  • Administer and regulate portable oxygen.
  • Assist with routine colostomy care.
  • Assist and monitor the application of anti-embolism stockings or hosiery.
  • Give prepackaged enemas pursuant to a physician's order.
  • Take or supervise the taking of vital signs along with appropriate documentation.   Maintain a monthly ALF resident record of weight, blood pressure, and pulse rate. 
  • Conduct weekly blood pressure clinic for ALF residents, retirees in independent housing and volunteers.
  • Administer TB tests and read the results of said tests during annual staff TB screening.
  • Fulfill Continuing Education Units as required by law to maintain your professional active RN license.
  • Assist the Administrator in evaluating continued residency criteria.  Decisions about changes, actions or inaction in resident healthcare should be made in conjunction with the other nursing staff.  We like to use the “team” approach in decision making, valuing each member’s input.
