John and Krista met while attending Conestoga College and married in 2008 with a desire to serve the Lord as overseas missionaries. They began their married life working in Kitchener and soon began serving with a ministry called MoveIn. After their third child was born, God made it clear it was time for them to enter the missionary training program with Ethnos Canada.

In 2018, they flew to Tanzania, with a desire to serve as church planters there. Their plans were temporarily derailed after discovering that Krista had a cancerous tumour growing in her head, but God graciously allowed the tumour to be treated and Krista’s health to be restored sufficiently so they were able to rejoin their team in Tanzania in 2019. After 15 months in Tanzania, circumstances required the Poidevins to return to Canada. God has continued to work in and through them, and in 2021 they joined the support staff team in Papua New Guinea, in order to be part of reaching the unreached with the gospel.
