Prayer Team Update — June 9-13

God’s Word in Five Languages, Mexico
Monday, June 9
Matt and Starr Arnold serve in Mexico itinerantly. Across Mexico there are over 200 indigenous language groups. Pray that God would give field leadership direction on where to open a new work. The Arnolds’ co-worker, Tony Finch, has started a radio station to bring God’s Word to some of these language groups. “The vision of the radio station is to penetrate the hard-to-reach places of the mountains [where missionaries are denied entry] … with Bible teaching in five languages: Spanish, Tepehuan, Tarahumara, Pima and Guarijio.” Pray that God would provide for this ministry. “They are in need of upgrading their backup power system … [and] finances for operating expenses.”

Pray for Literacy in the Mibu and Nankina Churches of Papua New Guinea
Tuesday, June 10
Chris and Angie Walker, serving from one of the support centres in Papua New Guinea (PNG), minister to the Mibu people of PNG. “For over two years now Chris has been working with a group of four to five Mibu guys, … training them to develop Bible lessons themselves.” Praise God that, “encouraged by the [churches’] reception, two of the men … have begun translating lessons from their own language into Tok Pisin so that these lessons can be made available to other churches all around Papua New Guinea. … Pray that capable literacy teachers will be moved by the Spirit to bring literacy” to the Mibus’ neighbours, a village of the Nankina church, whose literacy progress and Bible teaching were hindered by a crisis.

Pray for Canadians Jeremy and Kim Wardlaw, serving in Guinea, West Africa
Wednesday, June 11
Canadians Jeremy and Kim Wardlaw minister among the Douré people of Guinea. After a successful literacy workshop, the team has “has five primers and five readers introducing all of the letters and syllable combinations required for basic literacy. Such a huge praise!” Two men in the village completed a trial literacy class and can now read in the Douré language. “Pray with us that God would continue to lay the foundation for the Douré translation project, create greater interest in literacy, increase our language abilities and ultimately draw people to a greater knowledge of Him.”

Praise the Lord for Baniwa believers passing on the Good News to their own people
Thursday, June 12
Joe and Kandi Depue minister among the Baniwa people of Brazil. Joe and two Baniwa believers completed the chronological teaching in a Baniwa village. Praise the Lord that some people put their trust in Christ! “Praise the Lord that over half of the teaching was taught by Baniwa believers passing on the Good News to their own people group” despite persecution from their families. “One man, Joakin, … is dying to pass this on to his in-laws … [but] will need to be discipled and taught more before we feel he is ready. … Please pray for us to have wisdom on how to go about the next steps.”

Short-term Trips Are in Full Swing—with a Focus on Unreached People Groups
Note: please don’t post on social media
Friday, June 13
Encounter is a two-week trip where participants get to learn, serve and experience ministry among unreached people groups. Pray that God would keep the participants safe, that He would work in their hearts and that they would return with clear direction and a strong motivation to serve the Lord. Pray that the participants would be an encouragement to missionaries on the field. Pray that God would be glorified through these Encounter trips.
